THE OPENING GUIDE
Is the Yumeshima resort open?

The resort is not open
Osaka Prefecture identifies autumn 2030 as the target opening period for the Osaka integrated resort. MGM Osaka’s own site says the resort is set to debut in 2030 and does not name a season, and its 2026 notices do not change the timing (checked October 19, 2026). Treat this as a plan, not a confirmed date for a visit.
MGM Osaka describes a resort combining hospitality, entertainment, conference and exhibition facilities, dining and gaming. Do not assume a particular hotel, attraction or casino experience is available to book.
A station is not an open resort
Yumeshima Station is listed by Osaka Metro. Being able to reach the station does not mean you can enter the resort development area. Follow local access instructions.
The former Expo site is not a destination yet
The Expo 2025 grounds on the same island (the Yumeshima Phase 2 area, about 50 hectares) are not open as an attraction. Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City opened a call for a developer on July 3, 2026. Proposals are accepted from January 12 to 15, 2027, and the price review that selects the developer is scheduled for February 17, 2027. The city notes that these dates may change.
What will be built there, and when, will only be known after the developer is chosen. No facility names, prices or opening dates have been announced, so this guide does not list any. Do not plan a trip around the former Expo grounds.
The city’s plan keeps about 200 metres of the Expo’s Grand Ring in the north-east corner of the site and turns the surrounding area into a memorial park. As of the city’s August 26, 2026 project summary, the work is at the survey and design stage through fiscal 2027, and no opening date has been given.
Before committing to dates
Check for an official opening announcement, availability for your chosen facility, and booking conditions for your exact dates. Keep cancellation terms in mind if your trip depends on an event that is not confirmed.
Visiting Osaka sooner
Plan around destinations that are open for your travel dates. Compare city and waterfront bases and use the budget calculator to explore your options. This guide does not sell advance resort access or take booking deposits. For what the resort’s hotel plans include, see MGM Osaka hotels: what is planned.
For a current rail journey, use the KIX, Shin-Osaka and Umeda transport guide. It separates Yumeshima Station from the route to INTEX Osaka.
